CHICAGO – Former President Barack Obama praised “selfless” Joe Biden for passing on the baton in his address to the Democratic National Convention Tuesday night — just weeks after playing a leading role in a behind-the-scenes pressure campaign to bury the president’s re-election bid.

”At a time when the other party had turned into a cult of personality, we needed a leader who was steady and brought people together, and was selfless enough to do the rarest thing there is in politics — putting his own ambition aside for the sake of the country,” Obama gushed.

“History will remember Joe Biden as an outstanding president who defended democracy at a moment of great danger — and I am proud to call him my president but I am even prouder to call him my friend.”

Anti-Israel protesters interrupted former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” Tuesday night.

The California Democrat had joined Colbert for a live taping of the late-night talk show at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago one day after appearing at the Democratic National Convention, which is being held nearly 3 miles away at the United Center.

The show had just returned from a commercial break when the topic switched to ceasefire discussions between Israel and Hamas.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker awkwardly boasted about being an “actual billionaire” following socialist Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ rant against the ultra-wealthy during night two of the Democratic National Convention.

“Donald Trump thinks that we should trust him on the economy because he claims to be very rich,” the 59-year-old Democrat said Tuesday in a dig at the Republican presidential candidate.

“But take it from an actual billionaire,” he said as the crowd inside the United Center in Chicago erupted into cheers. “Trump is rich in only one thing — stupidity.”

Dozens of anti-Israel protesters clashed with Chicago police officers and others burned an American flag Tuesday night outside of the Israeli consulate, not far from the Democratic National Convention.

The mob — chanting “Free, free Palestine” and waving Palestinian flags — tried to break through a line of cops in riot gear outside the building housing the consulate, located about two miles from the United Center, where the convention is being held.

Videos showed police officers shoving demonstrators and tackling some of them to the ground before taking them into custody. At least eight people were arrested.

CHICAGO — Second gentleman Doug Emhoff attempted to redirect criticism of Vice President Kamala Harris’ much-derided “cackle” Tuesday — saying in his Democratic convention speech that “I love that laugh!”

Emhoff, 59, praised his wife, also 59, recalling how they came to date after a client shared her phone number and he left an awkward voicemail.

“She called me back and we talked for an hour. We laughed — you know that laugh! I love that laugh,” Emhoff said of his wife of nearly 10 years.

Former President Barack Obama appeared to have referred to the size of his predecessor's genitalia via a crude hand gesture during his speech.

Obama listed his many criticisms of Trump's personality ranging from "the childish nicknames.. the crazy conspiracy theories... this weird obsession with crowd sizes."

When Obama arrived at Trump's "weird obsession" he placed his hands at a wide distance apart. When he arrived at the word "sizes" Obama narrowed the distance between his hands and looked down, seemingly surprised by the innuendo he had created.

CHICAGO — Democrats adjourned their convention for the night after a brief benediction.

Day three will feature speeches from Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) and former President Bill Clinton, among others.

Barack Obama invoked the sixteenth president of the United States Abraham Lincoln towards the end of his DNC keynote speech Tuesday.

Obama said Americans need to cling to their "bonds of affection" just as Lincoln had instructed them to in the midst of the civil war.

Obama urged Democratic voters to "listen" to the concerns of people who aren't yet ready to support Kamala Harris and said that they could "learn something in the process."

The former president said that when "grandma or grandpa" say "something that makes you cringe" you shouldn't write them off as "bad people."

"The entire world is watching to see if we can pull this off," he said.

Barack Obama said voters should reject Donald Trump's attempt to retake the White House, saying "the sequel is usually worse."

“We do not need four more years of bluster and bumbling and chaos. We have seen that movie before, and we all know that the sequel is usually worse," the former president said while dissing his successor in his Democratic convention speech.

Obama also likened Trump to an annoying neighbor who "keeps running his leaf blower outside your window every minute of every day."

While lauding Kamala Harris' support for the Affordable Care Act, Obama couldn't help but tout his signature legislative package.

"I've noticed, by the way, that since it's become popular they don't call it Obamacare no more," he said with mock hurt.
