Trump says Mexican president has ‘agreed to stop’ migrants from crossing the US border illegally

By Victor Nava

President-elect Donald Trump said Wednesday that he has received assurances from Mexico’s new president that she will “stop migration” though her country and into the US.

“Just had a wonderful conversation with the new President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“She has agreed to stop Migration through Mexico, and into the United States, effectively closing our Southern Border,” the president-elect added.

Trump, 78, noted that in his “very productive conversation” with Pardo they also discussed illegal drugs coming into the US from south of the border.

“We also talked about what can be done to stop the massive drug inflow into the United States, and also, U.S. consumption of these drugs,” he said.

“It was a very productive conversation!”

Trump announced earlier this week that he planned to slap a 25% tariff on Mexican imports in an effort to get the country to crack down on illegal immigration and drug smuggling.

“Last night, my family and I were targeted with a pipe bomb threat at our Oregon home,”  Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-Ore.) wrote on X.

“Thanks to the quick response of the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, we are safe,” she added. “We deeply appreciate their dedication to protecting our community.”

Incoming Trump cabinet members including Howard Lutnick, Rep. Elise Stefanik and former New York Rep. Lee Zeldin are among those that received threats.

“This kind of violence harms not just the intended targets but entire communities,” Chavez-DeRemer said. “It is an unacceptable way to express opposition, and it will not deter President Trump and the team he has assembled from doing the work on behalf of the American people.”

FBI looking into bomb threats, swatting of Trump nominees

By Steven Nelson

The FBI said Wednesday afternoon that it's looking into bomb threats and incidents of "swatting" — phony reports to the police sending them to a particular address — targeting President-elect Donald Trump's nominees.

"The FBI is aware of numerous bomb threats and swatting incidents targeting incoming administration nominees and appointees, and we are working with our law enforcement partners," the bureau said.

"We take all potential threats seriously, and as always, encourage members of the public to immediately report anything they consider suspicious to law enforcement.”

Trump cabinet noms, other appointees targeted with bomb threats

By Josh Christenson

President-elect Donald Trump's incoming cabinet members and other political appointees have been targeted with bomb threats, a transition team spokeswoman revealed Wednesday.

“Last night and this morning, several of President Trump's Cabinet nominees and Administration appointees were targeted in violent, unAmerican threats to their lives and those who live with them," spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.

"These attacks ranged from bomb threats to 'swatting,'" she added. "In response, law enforcement and other authorities acted quickly to ensure the safety of those who were targeted. President Trump and the entire Transition team are grateful for their swift action."

"President Trump and the Transition are focused on doing the work of uniting our nation by ensuring a safe and prosperous future. With President Trump as our example, dangerous acts of intimidation and violence will not deter us.”

Harris team says they were 'surprised' to see polling wrongly showing VP ahead of Trump

By Diana Nerozzi

Vice President Kamala Harris' advisers dished that they were "surprised" to see public polling showing her ahead of Donald Trump in September and October, ahead of the election — because internal polling was showing her way behind.

"We were behind. I mean, I think it surprised people because there was these public polls that came out in late September, early October, showing us with leads that we never saw," David Plouffe, Harris' senior campaign adviser, said on "Pod Save America."

Harris' team sat down for an interview with the podcast that came out Tuesday and spoke about what went wrong to have her lose every single swing state.

The campaign spoke about the difficulties they faced figuring out how to distance Harris from President Biden, since they were part of the same administration, despite voter concerns.

"She felt like she was part of the administration. So why should she look back and pick out – cherry-pick some things that she would have done differently when she was part of it? And she also, she had tremendous loyalty to President Biden," Harris adviser Stefanie Cutter said.

"Imagine if we said, 'Well, we would have taken this approach on the border.' Imagine the round of stories coming out after that of people saying, 'Well, she never said that in a meeting,' or 'What meeting when she said this,' or 'I remember when she did that.' And it was just, it wasn’t going to give us what we needed because it wouldn’t be a clean break."

Only two cabinet slots left for Trump to nominate: SBA boss and Council of Economic Advisers chief

By Josh Christenson

After a flurry of nominations Tuesday night, the only cabinet posts President-elect Donald Trump has left to fill are the leaders for the Small Business Administration and Council of Economic Advisers.

The as-yet-unannounced official tapped to lead the FBI, while not serving in a cabinet-level role, would still need Senate confirmation.

Last night, Trump, 78, tapped anti-COVID-lockdown advocate Dr. Jay Bhattacharya to lead the National Institutes of Health, Kevin Hassett to chair the National Economic Council and Jamieson Greer as his US trade representative.
