Vice President-elect JD Vance and his three young children were photographed playing along the lagoon at Mar-a-Lago Friday as a Secret Service robot security dog stood watch.

Vance, 40, relaxed in shorts and a polo shirt, led the troupe in dangling palm branches over a retaining wall into the water, which faces a bridge where journalists, photographers and fans of President-elect Donald Trump can glimpse the club that’s serving as a base for their White House transition.

Trump announces interior secretary nom Doug Burgum will also lead new National Energy Council

By Diana Nerozzi

President-elect Donald Trump announced Friday that North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum will lead the newly-established National Energy Council on top of being interior secretary.

"I am thrilled to announce that Doug Burgum, the Governor of North Dakota, will be joining my Administration as both Secretary of the Interior and, as Chairman of the newly formed, and very important, National Energy Council, which will consist of all Departments and Agencies involved in the permitting, production, generation, distribution, regulation, transportation, of ALL forms of American Energy," Trump wrote in a statement.

With U.S. Energy Dominance, we will drive down Inflation, win the A.I. arms race with China (and others), and expand American Diplomatic Power to end Wars all across the World."

Exclusive: Israel envoy pick Mike Huckabee says Gaza hostage 'breakthrough' under Trump 'would not surprise me'

By Caitlin Doornbos

WASHINGTON — A second Donald Trump administration will have no “mixed messaging” toward Israel, the president-elect’s pick to be US ambassador to the Jewish state told The Post.

“The biggest challenge is that the message that our nation has given to Israel has often been very mixed,” former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said in his first one-on-one interview since Trump announced him as his choice for Israel envoy Nov. 12.

“I’ve been very grateful that President Biden has often said that ‘We stand with Israel,’ you know, ‘They are our ally,’ and ‘We’re ironclad in our commitment,'” the 69-year-old added. “But then, within a day or so, we would hear we’re going to withhold selling arms to Israel unless they prosecute the war in Gaza the way we think it should be prosecuted.

“Well, those are two very different things, and they can’t be the same. So what I’m really confident of in President Trump is, there will be a consistent policy, a consistent message and a consistent action to go with that.”

NYC Mayor Adams outrages 'The View' hosts with reaction to RFK Jr. nomination

By David Spector

New York City Mayor Eric Adams defended President-elect Donald Trump's right to nominate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to head the Department of Health and Human Services on "The View" Friday, drawing consternation from the show's hosts.

"The executives will nominate and bring in those they believe will move their vision forward," Adams said when asked what he thinks about RFK Jr.'s appointment.

The embattled mayor, who has been charged in an alleged foreign bribery scheme, went on to say he disagrees with Kennedy's push to remove fluoride from drinking water. However, he voiced support for making America's food products healthier, another cause Kennedy has championed.

"Let's be clear, we have a real problem with the food in our country. We need to watch what we're feeding our children," Adams said.

"The View" host Sunny Hostin shot back that RFK Jr. contracted a brain worm after eating pork, and pointedly asked if he should be "in charge of ... our food?"

Co-host Ana Navaro grimly predicted that there would be a "mass exodus" of federal employees after controversial Trump nominees like Kennedy took office.

"Who wants to work for a kook?" she asked.

"If we love our country, then no one individual should take us away from our mission," the mayor responded. "I dedicated my life to law enforcement, so if a new commissioner came in that I disagreed with, I was not going to say I was going to resign."

Adams concluded the exchange by saying the experts at the HHS would look at Kennedy's proposals and perform real analyses before implementing them, claiming, "It happens every day."

House speaker says ethics report on Matt Gaetz should not be released

By David Spector

House Speaker Mike Johnson came out against releasing the ethics report on former Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz.

The House Ethics Committee was investigating allegations that Gaetz had sex with a 17-year-old girl, which the MAGA loyalist has vehemently denied.

( function() { var func = function() { var iframe = document.getElementById('wpcom-iframe-1a1d53f6e5ac8bd9322ad9f0f0094f30') if ( iframe ) { iframe.onload = function() { iframe.contentWindow.postMessage( { 'msg_type': 'poll_size', 'frame_id': 'wpcom-iframe-1a1d53f6e5ac8bd9322ad9f0f0094f30' }, "https:\/\/embeds.nypost.com" ); } } // Autosize iframe var funcSizeResponse = function( e ) { var origin = document.createElement( 'a' ); origin.href = e.origin; // Verify message origin if ( 'embeds.nypost.com' !== origin.host ) return; // Verify message is in a format we expect if ( 'object' !== typeof e.data || undefined === e.data.msg_type ) return; switch ( e.data.msg_type ) { case 'poll_size:response': var iframe = document.getElementById( e.data._request.frame_id ); if ( iframe && '' === iframe.width ) iframe.width = '100%'; if ( iframe && '' === iframe.height ) iframe.height = parseInt( e.data.height ); return; default: return; } } if ( 'function' === typeof window.addEventListener ) { window.addEventListener( 'message', funcSizeResponse, false ); } else if ( 'function' === typeof window.attachEvent ) { window.attachEvent( 'onmessage', funcSizeResponse ); } } if (document.readyState === 'complete') { func.apply(); /* compat for infinite scroll */ } else if ( document.addEventListener ) { document.addEventListener( 'DOMContentLoaded', func, false ); } else if ( document.attachEvent ) { document.attachEvent( 'onreadystatechange', func ); } } )();

"I'm going to strongly request that the Ethics Committee not issue the report because that is not the way we do things in the House, and I think that would be a terrible precedent to set," Johnson (R-La.) said.

The speaker added that Gaetz's nomination to be President-elect Donald Trump's attorney general was not a factor in his decision regarding the release of the report.

“The rules of the House have always been that a former member is beyond the jurisdiction of the Ethics Committee."

The Justice Department had its own investigation into Gaetz's conduct, but ultimately did not bring charges.

Pa. election boards counting undated mail-in ballots in defiance of state law as Dem Sen. Casey refuses to concede to McCormick

PITTSBURGH — As Democratic Sen. Bob Casey refuses to concede and hopes to overturn the Pennsylvania Senate race called for Republican Senator-elect Dave McCormick, county election boards — in a violation of state law — are defying the state Supreme Court’s order not to count undated mail-in ballots.

One Democratic official said the quiet part out loud.

“I think we all know that precedent by a court doesn’t matter anymore in this country,” said Bucks County Commissioner Diane Ellis-Marseglia, who voted Thursday to count deficient provisional ballots previously barred by court order, where voters did not sign in one of two necessary boxes, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

The election boards of Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery and Centre counties have all recently moved to count undated mail ballots, defying the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s repeated rulings.

“People violate laws any time they want,” Ellis-Marseglia said. “So, for me, if I violate this law, it’s because I want a court to pay attention. There’s nothing more important than counting votes.”

McCormick and his GOP allies are fighting these violations in court but remain confident that the Republican candidate will retain his lead by tens of thousands of votes, even as the race is headed for an automatic recount.

Former ESPN star Sage Steele bluntly denies Trump administration rumors: ‘Fake news’

By Ryan Glasspiegel

Sage Steele has called “fake news” on a report that claimed she was gunning to be the press secretary for the Trump administration.

Axios reported earlier this week that Steele was “vying” for the role.

In a post on X on Thursday, Steele denied that this was the case.

“Not sure how these rumors began about me ‘vying’ to be Press Secretary, but it’s definitely fake news! I haven’t had a single conversation with anyone about that job, and have no desire to do so!” Steele wrote.

Pence rips HHS nominee RFK Jr. as 'most pro-abortion Republican in modern history,' calls on Senate to reject nom

By Josh Christenson

Former Vice President Mike Pence on Friday ripped Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s nomination to be the next health and human services secretary, saying he would be "the most pro-abortion Republican appointed secretary of HHS in modern history."

"For the majority of his career, RFK Jr. has defended abortion on demand during all nine months of pregnancy, supports overturning the Dobbs decision and has called for legislation to codify Roe v Wade," Pence said in a statement.

"On behalf of tens of millions of pro-life Americans, I respectfully urge Senate Republicans to reject this nomination and give the American people a leader who will respect the sanctity of life as secretary of health and human services.”

Pence also said that the first Trump administration had been "unapologetically pro-life" and RFK Jr.'s confirmation would be "an abrupt departure" from that record.

"The pro-life movement has always looked to the Republican party to stand for life, to affirm an unborn child has a fundamental right to life which cannot be infringed," he added.

'Don’t have the competency': Retiring Dem Rep. Dean Phillips slams Trump's cabinet picks — and says he would join the admin

By Josh Christenson

Retiring Rep. Dean Phillips, who tried to primary President Biden, said on NewsNation Thursday night that he would be willing to join the Trump administration.

“The nominees don’t have the competency to lead agencies of this magnitude,” Phillips (D-Minn.) said of President-elect Donald Trump’s unlikely cabinet picks.

“They don’t have experience leading multi-thousand-person entities with huge billion-dollar budgets.

“I actually support an Office of Government Efficiency, for gosh sakes — long overdue, our debt is out of control,” he added.

“You could sign up,” NewsNation anchor Leland Vittert butted in. “Not doing anything after, what, Jan. 6?”

“If I’m called on to help improve efficiencies and allocate dollars better to go further, of course, who wouldn’t want to do that?” replied Phillips.

“You’d be willing to go into the Trump administration?” Vittert pressed.

“If there’s a job that can help the country, and that my skill set would be useful for, anybody should consider that,” Phillips said.

“And if we come to a point where no Democrat will want to serve in a Republican administration and conversely, we’re limiting 50% of the universe of potential appointees, that’s what I’m trying to overcome.”

The Minnesota Democrat first ran for office, he has repeatedly said, because his daughters were distraught over Trump's presidential victory upset in 2016.
