Former President Donald Trump was interviewed Monday by billionaire Elon Musk in a discussion that aired live on X.

Musk, the 53-year-old owner of the social media platform, had teased that his “conversation” with the Republican nominee for president will be “unscripted with no limits on subject matter.”

The interview was delayed about 40 minutes after what Musk called a ‘massive’ cyberattack on X.

Elon Musk told former President Donald Trump that he believed Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris would tank the economy if she wins the Nov. 5 election — citing her father's career as a "Marxist economist."

"You are the path to prosperity. And I think Kamala is the opposite," Musk told the Republican nominee.

Musk noted that "her dad is a Marxist economist. That's — you can Google it. I mean, it's not, we're not making this up. You know, that's how she was brought up."

The vice president's Jamaica-born father, Donald Harris, taught economics at Stanford University and Musk's characterization of his analytical bent is broadly accepted.

Elon Musk says his mom's friends got attacked in New York

Elon Musk told Donald Trump that three of his mom's friends were attacked in New York while walking down the street – but said they aren't going to the police because the criminals would walk free anyway.

"My mom lives in New York. And I was like, you know, Mom, you know, you know, any of your friends, you know, been attacked or assaulted? And she said, yeah, three of her friends and three separate instances were assaulted just, just, just in recent months, just walking around the streets of New York," Musk said.

He said the friends will not report the instances because they know the police will not prosecute the offenders.

Trumps calls Biden 'close to vegetable stage'

Donald Trump said President Biden is "close to vegetable stage."

"I looked at him today on the beach, and I said, Why would anybody allow him? The guy could barely walk. Why would anybody allow him?" Trump said of the president who dropped his 2024 re-election bid after Democrats voiced concerns over his mental acuity and electability.

The White House has insisted Biden didn't step down over his age.

"And it's, it's ridiculous, I mean, and he's been doing that for a long time, you know, you can't lift the chair. The chair weighs about three ounces. It's meant for children and old people to lift, and he can't lift it. The whole thing is crazy," Trump said, referencing a video of Biden moving a beach chair over the weekend.

Trump says nuclear energy needs to be 'rebranded,' proposes naming it after Musk

Donald Trump said nuclear energy is an "underrated as an electricity source" but that it has a branding problem due to its history and regulations surrounding it.

"I think it's something that's worth reconsidering, but there's so much regulation that people can't get it done so that, you know, maybe they'll have to change the name. Is the rough name. There are some areas, like, when you see what happened to rebranded, we have to give it a good name," Trump told Elon Musk of nuclear energy.

"We'll name it after you or something," he then said to Musk.

Elon Musk offers to serve on commission to stop government overspending

Billionaire Elon Musk expressed interest Monday in serving on a commission that would monitor “government overspending.” 

“I think it would be great to just have a government efficiency commission that ensures that the taxpayer money is spent in a good way,” Musk told former President Donald Trump. 

“And I'd be happy to help out on such a commission,” he added.

Trump responded that he would “love it” if Musk were to serve on such a panel. 

“You're the greatest cutter,” the former president told the business tycoon. 

Musk later compared the US to Venezuela when talking about government spending and inflation. 

Trump says he will 'close' Department of Education

Donald Trump said he will "close up" the Department of Education and bring school policy "back to the states" to breed competition.

"Of the 50 [states], I would bet that 35 would do great, and 15 of them, or, you know, 20 of them will be as good as Norway. You know, Norway is considered great. You can name them. I mean, just they're so good. Some of these countries are so good. But if you go into some of these really well-run states, you know, we have states that don't know what debt is," Trump said.

He also blasted California Gov. Gavin Newsom for his policies and said "he's not going to do great with education."

Trump lauds Elon's Tesla cars as a 'great product' – but said not 'everybody should have an electric car'

Donald Trump told Elon Musk he thinks he has a "great product" with his Tesla cars, but that he doesn't think "everybody should have an electric car."

Musk has been pushing for the public and the government to embrace electric vehicle technology, but Trump has been hesitant to fully support the new cars.

The former president hailed Musk's cars for not taking up too much gas, since the price of gas is up.

"Now, your cars don't require too much gasoline," Trump said. "I have to be honest with that. Doesn't mean everybody should have an electric car, but these are minor details. But you, your product is incredible."

Trump reaffirms desire for Israel-style Iron Dome to defend US as Musk fears WW3

Trump reaffirmed that an Israel-style Iron Dome could sufficiently defend the US – as Musk expressed fears over a potential World War III-level conflict.

"We're going to have the best Iron Dome in the world," the former president promised.

The 2024 GOP platform had first suggested the defense measure, in a nod to Israel's missile system to shoot down rockets.

"We're going to have protection," Trump pledged.

Trump throws shade at Obama over North Korea

Former President Donald Trump told Elon Musk that his predecessor warned him about North Korea before he took office. 

Trump, in his X Spaces interview with Musk, revealed that former President Barack Obama warned him that the nuclear North Korea was “the biggest problem” facing the US. 

“President Obama thought we were going to up in nuclear war [with North Korea],” Trump claimed. 

“I had that problem handled quickly,” he added, citing his various meetings with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. 

Trump says Biden 'might not have an IQ at all' over Ukraine

Donald Trump blasted President Biden on his approach to Russia's war on Ukraine, saying he "might not even have an IQ at all."

"This president [has] a low IQ, very low IQ. He had a low IQ 30 years ago, by the way, but now he might not even have a IQ at all," Trump said.

The former president specifically criticized Biden for saying Ukraine may become a NATO country and claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin would not have gone into Ukraine without Biden's rhetoric.

"You know, Biden did something with Russia. There was no chance of him ever going in. And when I left, and then, then after I left, they started forming big armies on their on the border with Ukraine, right? And I looked at that, and I thought he was doing that because Putin's a good negotiator. I thought he was doing that to negotiate," he said.

Trump says North Korea, Russia 'at the top of their game' but won't 'do anything bad to Iran'

Trump warned that the leaders of North Korea and Russia are "at the top of their game" — but that he "won't do anything bad to Iran."

"I know [Russian President Vladimir] Putin. I know President Xi [Jinping]. I know Kim Jong Un," he said. "They're at the top of their game; they're tough; they're smart; they're vicious — and they're going to protect their country."

"When they see a Kamala, or when they see a sleepy Joe, they can't even believe it," he speculated.

He also addressed Iran, saying that the US adversary "would not be attacking" if he were president. Tehran is suspected of planning a retaliatory attack for an Israeli airstrike.

"I don't want to do anything bad to Iran," the former president declared. "But they knew not to mess around. Iran was broke."

Trump says he has 'love' for New York but its being ruined by illegal immigration

Donald Trump mentioned he has "love" for New York, but that it's "horrible" what's going on with the state and illegal immigraiton.

The former president was speaking about how migrants are coming across the border from all of "Earth" – not just Mexico at the southern border.

"We're overwhelmed. You had to see the news tonight about New York, New York, and I love that place, and what they're doing to it is horrible," Trump told Elon Musk.

"What they're doing to it, and all the courts do is they try and focus on Trump. OK, then let's focus on Trump who did nothing wrong," he said.
