Guess the Easter Bunny hasn’t had his COVID jab yet.
President Biden and first lady Jill Biden appeared at the White House to announce that this year’s traditional Easter egg roll will not be held because of the virus — joined by an Easter Bunny mascot wearing a massive face mask.
All three used masks — but the symbol of Easter for millions of kids was nearly covered by the mask over his, well, mask.
“Easter is a day of joy where we celebrate resurrection and renewal, but this year we know many people are still going without the many comforts of the season. The virus is not gone. And the second year in a row most will be apart from their family and friends and a full congregation that goes with so much joy,” the president said as Peter Cottonmask stood next to him and his wife.
Biden said he has hope in the future as the nation tries to get free of the pandemic that has killed more than 555,000 Americans.

As we celebrate the renewal of this season, we know that longed-for dawn is almost here. We will rebuild our nation. We will remake and reimagine what we can be,” Biden continued.
“God willing,” there will be an Easter egg roll at the White House next year, Biden said.
At that, Biden stepped aside and the holiday hare, played this year by Air Force Lt. Col. Brandon Westling, waved from the balcony.
But the Bidens and the bunny were not the only ones in masks.
Even the White House’s commemorative wooden eggs contained images of the Easter Bunny wearing a mask.
The White House decorated for Easter on April 5, 2021. APThe wooden eggs, which were donated to people getting vaccines after the egg roll was canceled, were carved by Wells Wood Turning and Finishing in Maine.
“The work in the eggs is really a tribute to the 30 people who work here in the mill, we’re pleased to represent the state of Maine and the production and manufacturer of the eggs,” Wells Wood Turning and Finishing vice president Simon Barney told WGME-TV in Maine.
One version of the wooden eggs has images of the president’s dogs, Major and Champ.
The president in his remarks thanked the White House Historical Association and the National Park Service for helping to deliver thousands of the commemorative eggs to vaccination sites and health care centers across the country.
