Notorious serial liar George Santos posted a farewell fit for the stage as he headed off to a federal prison in New Jersey Friday — calling his extraordinary fall from grace “a wild political cabaret.”
“Well, darlings… The curtain falls, the spotlight dims, and the rhinestones are packed,” Santos wrote on X late Thursday.

“I may be leaving the stage (for now), but trust me legends never truly exit,” he added, signing off, “Forever fabulously yours.”
The former Long Island Republican congressman — whose bizarre whoppers included that he was a Broadway musical producer, is half-Jewish, and once ran a shelter for puppies — reported to the Federal Correctional Institutional in Fairton on Friday to serve a roughly seven-year sentence for wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.

The ex-rep, whose fibs also once centered on his history as a drag performer, pleaded guilty to the fraud crimes last year after he was expelled from Congress in December 2023.
Santos also rattled off a list of items he plans to bring to the slammer in an audio clip he posted Thursday.

Santos was busted for the fraud crimes after he and his campaign treasurer, Nancy Marks, were caught doctoring donor reports to qualify for national Republican party funding, according to prosecutors.
They fabricated contributions from Santos’ family and falsely reported a $500,000 loan from Santos, even though he actually had less than $8,000 in his accounts.

George Santos/ XHe also stole credit card information from donors, including “victims he knew were elderly persons suffering from cognitive impairment or decline” and made unauthorized charges to fund both campaign and personal expenses, according to the Department of Justice.
The former congressman also used a fake political fundraising company to rake in tens of thousands of dollars, which he spent on “designer clothing.”
During the pandemic, Santos fraudulently claimed more than $24,000 in unemployment benefits while employed at an investment firm. He also submitted false congressional financial disclosures to the House.
Santos stayed in the spotlight after his sentencing, selling video messages on Cameo and churning out social media posts.
