It was hard to ignore Donald J. Trump in 2016, whether in regard to the Golden Brick Awards or other matters. My honors related to him (and a few others):
- Make America Great Again: Trump, for striving to do his best for the country — and giving hope back to the heartland.
- Make Trump Great Again: The Trump kids, daughters-in-law and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, for keeping their dad on track to victory.
- Making Witness-History: To Kushner for buying more than $1.1 billion in assets from the Jehovah’s Witnesses in the last three years and making Laurent Morali president to keep Kushner on track.
- Make New York City Suck Again: Mayor de Blasio for consistently making wrong choices — such as insisting on mandatory affordable housing that will include the recently homeless in nearly every market-rate project — which has made even the cheeriest New Yorkers worry about the future of the city.
- Make New York State Suck Again: Gov. Cuomo for pouring money into creating jobs that don’t come, while businesses need lower taxes. Kudos for infrastructure proposals that will overhaul the bus and air terminals.
