House Democrats on Friday issued more subpoenas in their impeachment inquiry, including one to President Trump’s acting budget director, Russ Vought, who has refused to testify.
The House Intelligence Committee also issued subpoenas to Michael Duffey, a senior official in the Office of Management and Budget, and T. Ulrich Brechbuhl, counsel at the State Department.
Like Vought, Duffey and Brechbuhl have refused to testify voluntarily.
Vought and Duffey in particular are expected to be grilled by House impeachment investigators about the White House’s move to block military aid to Ukraine despite approval of the funds from the Pentagon and Congress.
Vought on Monday took to Twitter to reiterate that he and Duffey had no plans to cooperate with investigators.
“I saw some Fake News over the weekend to correct,” Vought tweeted. “As the WH letter made clear two weeks ago, OMB officials – myself and Mike Duffey – will not be complying with deposition requests this week.”
