WASHINGTON– The effort to win President Trump a new piece of gold kicked off in earnest Wednesday.

Eighteen House members sent a letter to the Nobel Committee in Norway to formally nominate Trump for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize.

“I cannot think of no one more deserving of the Committee’s recognition in 2019 than President Trump for his tireless work to bring peace to our world,” said the letter signed by Rep. Luke Messer (R-Ind.) and other GOP House members.

Fans at a rally in Michigan Saturday rewarded Trump’s efforts with chants of “Nobel, Nobel, Nobel,” much to the president’s delight.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in said this week Trump deserved the prize for his work to help end the nuclear standoff.
“I thought it was very generous of President Moon of South Korea to make that statement, and I appreciate it,” Trump said Tuesday. “But the main thing is to get it done. I want to get it done.”

A date and location for the nuclear summit have not yet been set.
