First Daughter Ivanka Trump’s intervention may have tipped the balance in her father’s decision to order Friday’s strike on a Syrian air base.
A memo from Britain’s ambassador to Washington, Sir Kim Darroch, to Prime Minister Theresa May made the point that Ivanka’s concern was a “significant influence in the Oval Office,” according to The Sunday Times of London.
Darroch noted that President Trump was “genuinely shaken” by televised pictures of the 87 civilians killed in a chemical attack.
The ambassador also pointed to a tweet by Ivanka, who said that she was “heartbroken and outraged by the images coming out of Syria following the atrocious chemical attack.”
