Jemele Hill’s ESPN colleagues are rushing to her defense after President Trump ripped the suspended “SportsCenter” anchor on Tuesday morning.
Trump’s latest tweet on Hill came a day after the network banned her for two weeks for suggesting that fans boycott Cowboys advertisers after owner Jerry Jones said players would be benched for what some perceive as disrespecting the flag and national anthem.
Anchor Michelle Beadle and reporter Josina Anderson, who are both on the rise at ESPN, responded directly to Trump’s tweet.
Several other ESPN employees also came to Hill’s defense, including Cari Champion, former NBA star Jalen Rose and Sarah Spain.
ESPN has not officially responded to Trump’s attack on Hill, which read: “With Jemele Hill at the mike, it is no wonder ESPN ratings have ‘tanked,’ in fact, tanked so badly it is the talk of the industry!”
Hill originally had received a reprimand from ESPN and Trump’s attention last month, when she called him a “white supremacist.”
Hill’s co-host on “SC6,” Michael Smith, did not appear on Monday’s show after Hill was punished.
