Katy Perry’s woke phase continued in London on Wednesday night when the singer appeared to take a very subtle dig at both Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Theresa May.
Perry was performing her new single “Chained to the Rhythm” featuring Skip Marley at the prestigious BRIT Awards, when two giant skeleton figures were paraded down walkways in side the 02 Arena.
One was a clear nod to Trump (complete with signature red tie), and the other referenced May (dressed in a red outfit she sported when meeting Trump last month). The two figures then met in the middle and held hands, echoing the now-famous shot of them outside the Whitehouse.
The performance comes just days after Perry performed the same song at the 2017 Grammys, and had part of the constitution projected on to her stage set. Clearly, Perry’s new socially and politically conscious period is not just a one shot deal. Expect more of the same from her fourth album, due later in the year.
