Judge Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, toasted his first round of Senate meetings at a beer-and-chips bash Friday night at the White House.
“We’re doing great at the end of the first quarter,” he told aides and White House staffers, the Daily Caller reported, as they hoisted Yuenglings to celebrate what appears to be an increasingly smooth path to confirmation.
Despite loud opposition from the left, Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer gave red-state Democrats tacit permission to approve Kavanaugh’s nomination Saturday, telling the Washington Post that they won’t face retribution for breaking with the party.
“Punishment is not how this place works,” Schumer said.
