Donald Trump has made history.

The incoming commander-in-chief is the first president-elect in modern history to have his handling of the transition period viewed unfavorably.

A new Gallup poll finds that 51 percent of Americans have an unfavorable view of Trump’s transition, while only 44 percent approve.

For comparison, President Obama’s handling of his transition was approved by 83 percent of Americans, while a mere 12 percent disapproved.

President George W. Bush’s transition had the approval of 61 percent and disapproval of 25 percent. And President Bill Clinton’s transition was approved by 68 percent and disapproved by 18 percent.

In a prior December Gallup survey, the American public was split on Trump’s handling of his transition — with 48 approving and 48 percent disapproving..

The latest Gallup poll was conducted Jan. 4-8, surveyed 1,032 adults, and has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
