Melania Trump condemned bullying during a speech at a UN luncheon on Wednesday, saying it was up to adults to teach young people how to live by “the golden rule.”

“We must teach each child that they are at the core of the kindness, mindfulness, integrity and leadership, which can only be taught by our own example. By our own example, we must teach children to be good stewards of the world they inherit,” the first lady said.

“We must remember that they are watching and listening, so we must never miss an opportunity to teach life’s ethical lessons along the way. As adults we are not merely responsible, we are accountable.”

Her remarks came just days after President Trump retweeted a doctored video showing him hitting a golf ball that appears to knock Hillary Clinton to the ground as she was boarding a plane.

Critics have repeatedly slammed Trump for similar tweets and comments attacking people, especially women, who criticize him.

Nonetheless, the first lady, in a hot pink dress, extolled “the golden rule” in her 7-minute speech.

“I hope you will join me in recommitting ourselves to teaching the next generation to lead by and honor the golden rule, do unto others as you would have do unto you. Which is paramount in today’s society, and my focus as first lady. It reminds our generation’s moral imperative to take responsibility for what our children learn,” she said.

She even warned about the dangers of bullying on social media.

“We must turn our focus right now to the message and content they are exposed to on a daily basis through social media, the bullying, the experience online and in person,” she said in her speech.

The first lady said on the campaign trail that she would make fighting bullying one of her main causes as first lady.
