Along with using phrases that practically mirrored Michelle Obama’s 2008 Democratic National Convention speech, Melania Trump “Rickrolled” Republicans on the first night of the GOP convention, offering up a nearly verbatim lyric from ’80s crooner Rick Astley.

“He will never give up,” she assured the crowd. “And most importantly, he will never, ever let you down.”

Those words come eerily close to Astley’s 1987 No. 1 hit “Never Gonna Give You Up.”

The chorus goes: “Never gonna give you up. Never gonna let you down. Never gonna run around and desert you.”

The prank of “Rickrolling” means receiving an electronic message that tricks you into a link that turns out to be Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.”

Astley is now just as well known for “Rickrolling” as he is for performing his hit tune.
