Michael Cohen said on Tuesday that he was “looking forward” to telling his story publicly after he apologized to the Senate Intelligence Committee for lying to it in 2017.

Cohen, President Trump’s longtime former personal lawyer and fixer, emerged from a closed-door hearing with the Senate Intelligence Committee on Capitol Hill where he had expressed remorse for his 2017 testimony, according to CNN.

“I really appreciated the opportunity to tell my story,” Cohen said about Tuesday’s meeting with the committee. “I’m looking forward to telling my story in public tomorrow.”

Cohen is expected to say publicly on Wednesday that the president engaged in criminal conduct during a potentially explosive public hearing, reports said.

Cohen has pleaded guilty to tax evasion, making false statements to a bank, campaign finance violations and lying to Congress.

He is scheduled to report to prison on May 6 to begin serving his three-year sentence.
