The Astros confirmed they have been invited to the White House and will make the trip.

The team still is figuring out the details of its visit with President Donald Trump, who has played a part in casting unprecedented attention over whether a championship team visits since he assumed office.

“This is a tradition and an honor. For many people, this might be their only time to ever be invited to the White House,” Astros president of business operations Reid Ryan told the Houston Chronicle. “And as the representatives of baseball and the World Series champs, when the White House calls and invites you to come up, it’s something that as an organization we felt both a responsibility and an obligation to be part of.”

The Astros don’t play the Nationals this season and don’t travel to Baltimore to face the Orioles until the final series of the year. One option the team is exploring is a trip to Washington, DC, during spring training.

They will become the second MLB champion to visit Trump’s White House. The Cubs visited twice after winning in 2016, once before Chicago resident Barack Obama left office and once after Trump arrived.

The NBA champion Warriors were unlikely to accept an invitation, so Trump officially said they weren’t invited. The men’s NCAA basketball champion North Carolina Tar Heels also skipped the White House visit, and Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn said she won’t be making the trip after the 2018 Winter Olympics.
