WASHINGTON — FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed Tuesday that “a lot more” than 20 people are either under investigation or have already been interrogated by federal investigators for discussing Charlie Kirk’s assassination in a Discord “chatroom.”

“I see the public reports that the Discord thread had as many as 20 additional users,” Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) pressed Patel during a Judiciary Committee hearing on Capitol Hill.

“It’s a lot more than that,” Patel revealed.

“We’re running them all down.”

“Did Mr. Kirk’s assassin act alone?” Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) subsequently asked Patel during the oversight hearing.

“There are a number of individuals that are currently being investigated and interrogated — and a number yet to be investigated and interrogated related to that chatroom,” Patel answered.

“So others could have been involved?” Kennedy inquired.

“Yes, sir,” Patel replied.

The FBI chief’s testimony confirmed some details of a Monday Washington Post report that accused assassin Tyler Robinson confessed to fatally shooting Kirk, 31, in a Discord chat of around 30 people.

“Hey guys, I have bad news for you all,” Robinson, 22, reportedly messaged channel members about two hours after the assassination, according to the outlet. 

“It was me at [Utah Valley University] yesterday. i’m sorry for all of this.”

“Im surrendering through a sheriff friend in a few moments. thanks for all the good times and laughs, you’ve all been so amazing, thank you all for everything.”

Discord reps previously claimed in a statement there was “no evidence that the suspect planned this incident or promoted violence” on their platform.

Here's the latest on the Charlie Kirk shooting in Utah

• Police identified Tyler Robinson, 22, as the alleged assassin who fatally shot Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10.
• Robinson was charged with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury and obstruction of justice.
• Law enforcement confirmed that Robinson was living with a transgender roommate, and communications between the two helped the feds catch the alleged assassin.
• Kirk, the 31-year-old Turning Point USA co-founder, was attending an event on his American Comeback Tour when he was struck in the neck by a single shot.
• President Trump was among many who have called for the assassin to receive the death penalty.
• Kirk’s body was brought to Arizona from Utah on Air Force Two, accompanied by Vice President JD Vance, and taken to Phoenix’s Hansen Mortuary Chapel.
• Kirk’s funeral, which Trump has promised to attend, is scheduled for Sept. 21 at State Farm Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals.
• Kirk, a rising MAGA star, is survived by his wife and two young children.

Robinson was charged Tuesday with seven counts — including aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury and obstruction of justice.

Utah County Attorney Jeffrey Gray confirmed to reporters after announcing the charges that he would seek the death penalty.

Utah is one of five states where murderers can still face a firing squad.

Cox has maintained in remarks to the press that relatives communicated to investigators that Robinson had been “radicalized” by a “leftist ideology” and discussed Kirk’s Sept. 10 appearance at the Orem campus in the days leading up to it.

In announcing the charges, Gray confirmed that Robinson’s mother had told investigators her son had moved to the left politically over the last year or so and had become “more pro-gay and trans-rights oriented.”

Gray also confirmed that Robinson texted his roomate and romantic partner — a man in the process of transitioning — after the shooting of Kirk that “I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out.”

In addition to Robinson’s Discord chatroom, federal law enforcement has been probing whether pro-trans online groups, “furry”-fixated netizens or users on the gaming platform Steam were aware of plans to assassinate Kirk, the co-founder of the largest conservative youth activist organization, Turning Point USA.

Armed Queers SLC, one far-left group, took down its Instagram page after Kirk was shot and killed.

The husband and father of two was answering a question about transgender mass shooters moments before a bullet struck him in the neck. 

Before he was charged Tuesday, Robinson had stopped cooperating with investigators.

The suspect’s father turned him in late on Sept. 11, around 30 hours after Kirk’s death.

Patel said during Tuesday’s hearing that pictures posted by the FBI helped identify the suspect.
