Rep. Jerry Nadler, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said beginning impeachment hearings against President Trump is among the “options on the table” after special counsel Robert Mueller announced the end of his Russia probe.
Nadler, who heads the panel where impeachment proceedings would begin, said on Wednesday that although Mueller did not bring criminal charges against Trump because of longstanding Justice Department policies against indicting a sitting president, the “special counsel has clearly demonstrated that President Trump is lying.”
Nadler also said Mueller did “not exonerate” Trump of obstruction.
Asked if he would launch impeachment hearings, Nadler said: “All options are on the table and nothing should be ruled out.”
“Make no mistake,” Nadler continued, “not event the president of the United States is above the law.”
