Nicole Malliotakis, the GOP assemblywoman and former mayoral candidate who has said she regretted her 2016 vote for President Trump, showed up at his posh Hamptons fundraiser anyway — an apparent attempt to mend fences with his fans in her native Staten Island.
“Ran into America’s Mayor at President Trump’s fundraiser!” she wrote over a photo of herself schmoozing with Rudy Giuliani that she posted to social media Friday.
Malliotakis plans to challenge Democratic Rep. Max Rose in their Staten Island-Brooklyn district in 2020 — but first has to beat back at least two Trump-loving opponents in a Republican party primary, including disgraced ex-congressman Michael Grimm, who was forced to resign his seat when he served time for tax fraud.
She repeatedly distanced herself from Trump during her 2017 mayoral bid.
