New York Republicans knew before other delegates that Ted Cruz was going to betray Donald Trump because they were so close to the stage, they could see the words on his TelePrompTer before he uttered them. As a result, they launched the boos that rippled through the arena.

“We were watching the TelePrompTer. We saw the end of the speech. We saw, ‘Vote your conscience’ and people just erupted,” said state GOP spokeswoman Jennifer Proud.

New York Republicans also threw Cruz’s primary-race words in his face, chanting, “New York values!”
