The failure of the House to pass a new health-care bill means all provisions of ObamaCare remain in effect — including penalties for those who don’t have medical insurance.

Trump issued an executive order on his first day in office urging federal agencies to ease some of the requirements. But he did so assuming that Congress would scrap the controversial law.

Since it didn’t, MIT Professor Jon Gruber — who helped craft ObamaCare — said the penalties still apply. In 2017, the penalties are $695 per adult or 2.5 percent of household income, whichever is higher, with a maximum of $2,085 per family.
