Former Gov. George Pataki has been tapped as one of New York’s at-large Republican delegates and is expected to back Donald Trump — even though he has denounced Trump as a disaster for the GOP.

State Republican Chair Ed Cox placed Pataki on a list of pledged delegates ahead of a meeting of the party’s state committee in Albany on Wednesday, sources said.

The move raised the ire of Trump loyalists.

“He said he would never support Trump,” recalled one Trump supporter of Pataki.

In fact, the former governor said far worse things about the presumptive GOP nominee.

“I don’t think he’s going to be president of the United States and if he’s going to be our nominee I fear he’s going to drive the Republican Party off a cliff,” Pataki told Fox News on April 14.

Former Sen. Al D’Amato, also chosen as a Trump delegate, predicted an accord between the two.

Trump’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment.
