House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Monday formally invited President Trump to deliver the State of the Union address on Feb. 5.

The California Democrat — who denied Trump an opportunity to speak during the government shutdown — wrote in a letter to the president that they had both agreed on a date for the speech.

“When I wrote to you on January 23rd, I stated that we should work together to find a mutually agreeable date when government has reopened to schedule this year’s State of the Union address,” Pelosi’s letter read.

“In our conversation today, we agreed on February 5th.”

In a return letter to Pelosi, Trump thanked the speaker for the invitation.

“It is my great honor to accept,” the president wrote. “We have a great story to tell and yet, great goals to achieve.”

The partial government shutdown officially ended on Friday night — with the passage of a three-week resolution while the ongoing debate over a border wall continues.
