The Defense Department misfired on Twitter Thursday, mistakenly retweeting a call for President Trump, Sen. Al Franken and Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore to resign over sexual assault allegations.
“The solution is simple… Roy Moore: Step down from the race. Al Franken: Resign from congress. Donald Trump: Resign from the presidency. GOP: Stop making sexual assault a partisan issue. It’s a crime as is your hypocrisy,” read the original tweet, from @ProudResister.
The message appeared only briefly on the department’s feed, which has more than 5.2 million followers, before it was deleted.
