Sen. Tim Kaine, hoping to become Hillary Clinton’s vice presidential pick, branded Donald Trump as a “me-first,” “trash-talking” contender for the White House while campaigning Thursday with Clinton.

“Do you want a ‘You’re fired’ president or a ‘You’re hired’ president?” Kaine asked a rally in his home state of Virginia, mocking Trump’s reality TV catchphrase.

“You want a trash-talker president or do you want a bridge-builder?”

Clinton cooed over Kaine’s characterization of Trump and also suggested a new way to get voters to the polls. “I don’t know who created ‘Pokemon Go,’ ” she said of the video game. “But I’m trying to have them figure out how to create ‘Pokemon Go to the Polls.’ ”

Kaine is on a list of running-mate hopefuls that include senators Elizabeth Warren, Sherrod Brown and Cory Booker plus Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro and Labor Secretary Tom Perez.

Earlier in the day, Clinton told the League of United Latin American Citizens that immigration reform hinges on her victory.

Afterward, she held a closed-door meeting at the Capitol with Senate Democrats on unifying the Democratic Party.
