Indiana is on the board for President Trump, with the incumbent securing an early victory in his quest for four more years, with CNN projecting him the winner in the first call of the night.

The Hoosier State brings with it 11 of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the White House.

Trump had been widely expected to come out on top in Indiana, where his running mate, Vice President Mike Pence, previously served as both a governor and a congressman.

According to RealClearPolitics, a poll conducted last month by SurveyUSA showed Trump holding a 7-point edge over his Democratic challenger, former Vice President Joe Biden, in the state.

But, while the lead was enough for Trump to pull through, it fell significantly short of the nearly 20-point blowout he hung on 2016 opponent Hillary Clinton in the state.
