He’s trying to make the “lumberjack look” hip again.
Scott Dane, a logger and trucker from Wisconsin, threw his support behind President Trump in remarks at the 2020 Republican National Convention Wednesday.
But it was Dane’s choice to don a “Make Logging Great Again” hat that really got folks to log on.
“This man’s hat is amazing lol Making Logging Great Again,” wrote one person on Twitter.
Another user wrote: “This hat Scott Dane is wearing at The RNC is Fire.”
In his address Wednesday, Dane, executive director of the Associated Contract Loggers and Truckers of Minnesota, declared, “Logging has been a part of the Great American Story from the beginning.
“Logging is the most dangerous job in the country but we embrace that risk because we know America was built by strong people building things together. America needs us to keep building, and we can’t wait to be part of it.”
And while Trump has helped support the timber industry, Dane said, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden hasn’t done anything to keep it from getting the ax.
“Under President Trump, we’ve seen new support for our way of life — where a strong back and a strong work ethic can build a strong middle class,” Dane said.
“We want to build families where we’re raised and stand by communities that have stood by us. We want that way of life available for the next generation and we want our forests there, too.
President Trump, thank you for helping us do just that.”
