The mayor of San Juan blasted President Trump as the “Hater in Chief” on Thursday as Trump suggested he may pull federal relief workers from hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico.
“Your comments about Puerto Rico are unbecoming of a Commander in Chief they seem more to come from a ‘Hater in Chief'”
.
“You are incapable of fulfilling the moral imperative to help the people of PR. Shame on you.!”
The mayor was responding to a tweet by Trump that questioned the amount of resources the federal government was spending in the US territory.
“We cannot keep FEMA, the Military & the First Responders, who have been amazing (under the most difficult circumstances) in P.R. forever!” he tweeted.
Despite Trump’s threats, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives on Thursday voted 353-69 to approve $36.5 billion in emergency relief for Puerto Rico and other areas hit by recent disasters.
