The White House said Wednesday that there were other people present when President Trump

called the widow of a US soldier killed in Niger

— and that that was the “proof” that refuted a lawmaker’s claim that he was insensitive during the call.

“There were several people in the room from the administration that were on the call, including chief of staff General John Kelly,” said spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders, adding that there were no recordings of the call.

Trump had rejected the Florida congresswoman’s account that he told the widow of a soldier killed in an ambush that her husband, Sgt. La David Johnson, “knew what he signed up for.”

Trump said she fabricated the story and that he had “proof.”

Kelly has not publicly commented on the call.
