The Republican head of the Senate Judiciary Committee warned “Everybody in D.C.” that there was “no way” his committee could consider a new attorney general this year.

Sen. Chuck Grassley issued the advisory on Twitter as a report said President Trump might bypass Congress and make a recess appointment for the top law enforcement position.

“Everybody in D.C. Shld b warned that the agenda for the judiciary Comm is set for rest of 2017,” Grassley tweeted. “Judges first subcabinet 2nd / AG no way.”

Meanwhile, the Washington Post reported that Trump was speaking to advisers about possibly installing a new attorney general when Congress goes into recess.

A White House official, however, denied the story and used a common Trump term to denigrate the paper.

“More fake news from the Amazon Washington Post,” the official said.
