President Trump’s remark that the next Republican effort to repeal and replace ObamaCare will be an “easy one” came during a “lighthearted moment,” White House spokesman Sean Spicer said on Wednesday.”

“It was a lighthearted moment. It was on tape. Trying to make it look like he was utterly serious is a bit of a stretch,” Spicer told reporters at the daily press briefing.

At a White House reception on Tuesday evening, Trump said he was sure a deal on healthcare would be reached.

“That’s such an easy one. I have no doubt that that’s going to happen very quickly. We have been promising it – Democrat, Republican – to the public,” the president said.

House Speaker Paul Ryan pulled the GOP backed bill last Friday amid dwindling support from lawmakers.
