“Rocky” star Sylvester Stallone has announced that he likely won’t be running the federal government’s National Endowment for the Arts in the Trump administration.
Instead of running the NEA, which doles out grants in support of arts and has a $150 million-a-year budget, Stallone wants to help reintegrate military veterans.
“I am incredibly flattered to have been suggested to be involved with the National Endowment of the Arts,” Stallone said through a publicist Sunday.
“However, I believe I could be more effective by bringing national attention to returning military personnel in an effort to find gainful employment, suitable housing and financial assistance these heroes respectfully deserve,” the actor added.
It’s unclear whether Stallone seeks to join the Trump administration in order to help military veterans — or whether he’ll pursue his goal on his own.
