WASHINGTON – President Trump and first lady Melania Trump handed out candy to trick-or-treaters at the White House Sunday night.

The first couple arrived to the Air Force Band’s rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”

They passed out special boxes of Hershey’s milk chocolate candy bars and Twizzlers, decorated with the presidential seal and the signature of the POTUS and FLOTUS.

Most of their young guests came from military families, with some children of Secret Service and White House aides in the crowd too.

The president’s only audible comment came when he got ahold of a serpent staff – carried by a little girl dressed up as an Egyptian – and seemed to cast a spell in the direction of the press.

“You know what I’m doing?” Trump said.

His audience could only guess.

The White House was decorated with piles of pumpkins, gnarled trees sporting fall leaves, as well as corn stalks and twinkling lights wrapped around the columns of the Truman Balcony. A giant Halloween sign hung over where the president and first lady stood.

The Air Force’s Rolling Strings band played music from “Harry Potter,” “The Addams Family,” “The Phantom of the Opera” and other spooky tunes.

The president and first lady posed for photos with nearly every child.

The Trumps stayed outside with their guests for a little more than an hour.
