A trailer for an upcoming docuseries on the Trump family shows rare and candid behind-the-scenes access — including former first daughter Ivanka stressing over her dress and asking to borrow a makeup artist’s dog.
Filmmaker Alex Holder’s highly anticipated Discovery+ series “Unprecedented” focuses on the lead-up and aftermath of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, and its trailer splices intense, violent scenes with odd glimpses of the-then first family preparing for sitdown interviews.
“Do you see this line?” Ivanka asks in one clip indicating a fold in her dress around the waist.
Later, she’s seen laughing and asking a makeup artist if she can place the artist’s dog on her lap, apparently to cover up the outfit.
“Can I borrow your dog?” she says, laughing.
Exclusive interviews with President Trump, his children and Jared Kusher were all teased in the trailer for the upcoming docuseries. James Keivom for NY PostThe 2-minute, 24-second trailer, first obtained by Politico, also shows former President Donald Trump fussing over the placement of a table with a glass of water on it and Ivanka’s husband, Jared Kushner, fiddling with his tie. Trump’s sons, Eric and Don Jr., are also featured.
The images are spliced between title screens that read: “With exclusive access … to the most controversial family in the world” and “Gaining Power is easy … Surrendering it is not.”
Footage from Alex Holder’s film was previously subpoenaed by the House select committee investigating the events of Jan. 6, 2021. @alexjholder/TwitterThe trailer also includes dramatic images of supporters of the 45th president raging over the 2020 presidential election results — with one shouting, “get the roaches out.” Footage shot for the series at campaign rallies and inside the White House was among the footage Holder turned over under a subpoena to the House select committee investigating the events of Jan. 6, 2021.
One piece of footage that raises eyebrows in the trailer depicts Eric Trump making a phone call in which he says: “For the sake of this country, we’re going to get these guys.” The context of the call is not made clear.
The much-awaited docuseries will show footage from last year’s riot at the Capitol. James Keivom for NY PostTuesday’s trailer also featured a montage of violence as Trump supporters breached the Capitol.
At least one rioter is heard saying, “We’ve got to get the roaches out, all of them” while pointing toward the building, while another person says, “This is my house” while holding a letter from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office.
The trailer also featured soundbites describing the former president, with Kushner calling Trump an “unconventional person” and Donald Jr. saying his father “believes that everything that he’s doing is right.”
The trailer indicates the film will highlight exclusive interviews with the former president. @alexjholder/TwitterTrump has always looked at his project as a dynastic one,” one talking head is heard to say.
As the music fades near the end of the trailer, Trump can be heard faintly in the background asking, “Do you miss me yet?”
Holder appeared before the committee last month and has previously stated that he “had no agenda” coming into the project.
“We simply wanted to better understand who the Trumps were and what motivated them to hold onto power so desperately. We have dutifully handed over all the materials the Committee has asked for and we are fully cooperating,” he tweeted June 21 in response to the subpoena.
The panel is expected to hold at least one more public hearing this month and could air some of Holder’s footage then.
“Unprecedented” will stream on Discovery+ on July 10.
