US, Ukraine and Russia hold first-ever trilateral talks on ending war

By Caitlin Doornbos

Ukraine's top security official confirmed Friday that his country, the US and Russia had held the first-ever trilateral meeting meant to restart long-stalled efforts to end Moscow's nearly four-year-old invasion.

In a post on X, Rustem Umerov, secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, said the particiants — including Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, President Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, Army Secretary Gen. Daniel Driscoll, Supreme Allied Commander in Europe Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, and White House senior adviser Josh Gruenbaum for the US— discussed charting a path toward ending the deadliest European conflict since World War II.

"The meeting focused on the parameters for ending Russia’s war and the further logic of the negotiation process aimed at advancing toward a dignified and lasting peace," he said.

Representing Ukraine were Umerov, Ukrainian parliament majority leader David Arakhamia, chief of Ukrainian President Zelensky's office Kyrylo Budanov, as well as his deputy, Sergiy Kyslytsya.

Moscow's team included intelligence and defense leaders led by Russian chief of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian army Igor Kostyukov, according to the Kremlin.

"These aspects: Buffer zones, various control mechanisms, are discussed at the meeting along with other important topics," an unidentified source told Russia's state-run TASS news.

Additional talks are expected to be held on Saturday, Umerov added.

Trump: 'Under siege' Schumer 'holding up' Gateway tunnel project

By Samuel Chamberlain

President Trump has taken a swipe at Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on Truth Social.

"Remember everybody, it is Chuck Schumer, the under siege Senator from New York, who is holding up the Gateway Project!" he wrote.

Trump and Schumer met at the White House last week to discuss infrastructure funding after the administration froze about $18 billion meant for the tunnel connecting New York and New Jersey as well as the Second Avenue subway project this past October -- on the first day of the Schumer-led partial government shutdown.

Vance hails 'tremendous strides' in pro-life movement

By Josh Christenson

Vice President JD Vance closed his remarks by asking marchgoers to consider "where the fight for life stood just one decade ago" — and "where it stands today."

"We have made tremendous strides over the last year, and we're going to continue to make strides over the next three years to come," the vice president concluded. "But I'm a realist. I know that there is still much road ahead to travel together."

"Take heart, take heart at how far we've come, but don't lose sight of why we marched. And so long as you are out there marching for life, I hope you know that the vice president of the United States will march with you," Vance said. "God bless you all, and thanks for having me."

Vance: Far left preaches that 'marriage and children are obstacles'

By Josh Christenson

Vice President JD Vance continued his speech by lashing out at the "far left" for insisting to young Americans "that marriage and children are obstacles."

"Today, the far left in this country tells our young people that marriage and children are obstacles, that it's irresponsible, even immoral -- because of climate change or some other reason -- to encourage our young people to raise a family," the vice president told the March for Life.

"They tell us that life itself is a burden, but we here at this march, we know that it's a lie. We know that life is a gift," he said.

"We know that babies are precious because we know them and we love them, and we see the way that they can transform our families."

Vance declares Trump administration wants to build 'culture of life'

By Josh Christenson

Vice President JD Vance, in his March for Life address, also told attendees that the Trump administration wants to build a "culture of life" in America.

"I'm especially grateful for all of you, even the ones with Michigan hats," joked Vance, who is a proud Ohio State University alum.

"For the thousands of men and women and children, for the church groups, the school groups, the grandparents and the toddlers and everyone in between who braved this chilly Washington afternoon, all of us, all of us [in] the Trump administration, from the president on down, we thank you for your prayers. We thank you for your perseverance, and we thank you that for today, we are all marching for life," he added.

"Now, you all know this very well, that building a culture of life requires persuasion, and that's what's so different about this moment, compared to the moment that was dominated by the Supreme Court for 50 years," Vance said. "We're not trying to argue to the Supreme Court anymore. We're trying to argue to our fellow citizens that we must build up that culture of life."

JD Vance celebrates news of fourth child at March for Life

By Josh Christenson

Vice President JD Vance celebrated the news that he and second lady Usha Vance would be welcoming a fourth child into their family later this year during an address at the 53rd annual March for Life on Friday.

"I told you all that one of the things I most wanted in the United States of America was more families and more babies," Vance said. "So let the record show you have a vice president who practices what he preaches."

"I announced this week that we're expecting our fourth. And it will be our third baby boy. So we'll take whatever prayers you can give. We certainly need them," he added.

"The theme of this year's March for Life is, most of you all know, is that 'Life is a Gift.' And I know for me personally, this year there is so much to be thankful for."

Trump touts pro-life movement's 'greatest victory' in March for Life message

By Josh Christenson

President Trump touted his administration for delivering the pro-life movement's "greatest victory in its history" due to his appointing the US Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022.

In a video address to the 53rd Annual March for Life in Washington, DC, Trump reminded attendees that he was the first president to attend the rally in person and that his administration stood up "for the unborn" by appointing "judges and justices who believed in interpreting the Constitution as written."

"This is a battle that must be fought, must be won — not only in the corridors of power, but above all in the hearts and souls of the people," Trump said.

"That is why, under the Trump administration, we're strongly defending religious liberty. We're bringing back faith in America. We're bringing back God."

HHS threatens Minnesota with having to repay millions over failure to provide child care center records

By Josh Christenson

WASHINGTON — The Department of Health and Human Services has warned Minnesota it could have to repay hundreds of millions in federal dollars if the state keeps refusing to hand over child care center records amid a widening fraud scandal.

In a pair of letters dated Jan. 15, HHS administrators notified Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families commissioner Tikki Brown of her failure to provide the Trump administration “with information and documentation, requested and required under regulation, in a timely manner.”

Alex Adams, the assistant secretary of HHS’ Administration for Children and Families, which provided $184,928,081 in taxpayer funding to Minnesota youth services in fiscal year 2025, told Brown her department had 60 days to fork over the records.

Trump asks 'Whatever happened to global warming' as winter storm spreads across US

By Samuel Chamberlain

President Trump has weighed in on the massive winter storm that has more than 230 million Americans under weather alerts for this weekend.

"Record Cold Wave expected to hit 40 States," the president posted on Truth Social. "Rarely seen anything like it before. Could the Environmental Insurrectionists please explain — WHATEVER HAPPENED TO GLOBAL WARMING???"

The New York City area is due to be hit with an Arctic blast dropping temperatures well below freezing beginning Saturday.

The National Weather Service said Thursday that its models show at least an 85% chance that 6 or more inches of snow will fall across the tri-state area, with more than a foot expected in some parts.

NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani said Thursday that the five boroughs could receive anywhere between 3 and 16 inches of snow by Monday morning.

Trump blames 'big aspirin' for large bruise on hand after it 'clipped' table

By Steven Nelson

President Trump said Thursday that a large bruise on his hand was caused by his daily regimen of the "big aspirin" after he "clipped clipped it on a table"

Trump said he put "a little cream on it" after the injury, apparently incurred while hosting the inaugural meeting of his Board of Peace in Davos, Switzerland.

"Take aspirin if you like your heart, but don't take aspirin if you don't want to have a little bruising," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One as he returned to Washington.

"I take the big aspirin. And when you take the big aspirin, they tell you, you bruise. The doctor said, 'You don't have to take that, sir, you're very healthy.' I said, 'I'm not taking any chances.' That's one of the side effects."

Trump told the Wall Street Journal this month that he takes 325 milligrams of aspirin a day, rather than the low-dose 81 milligrams recommended by his doctors. He said he sticks to the higher dosage because "I’m a little superstitious."

“They say aspirin is good for thinning out the blood, and I don’t want thick blood pouring through my heart,” Trump told the Journal. “I want nice, thin blood pouring through my heart. Does that make sense?”
