President Trump announced an upcoming executive order that he will sign to "help bring HONESTY to the 2026 Midterm Elections" and vowed to wage a campaign against mail-in ballots.

"WE WILL BEGIN THIS EFFORT, WHICH WILL BE STRONGLY OPPOSED BY THE DEMOCRATS BECAUSE THEY CHEAT AT LEVELS NEVER SEEN BEFORE, by signing an EXECUTIVE ORDER to help bring HONESTY to the 2026 Midterm Elections," Trump declared on Truth Social Monday.

The president then seemingly suggested that the federal government has significant power over how states conduct their elections.

"Remember, the States are merely an 'agent' for the Federal Government in counting and tabulating the votes. They must do what the Federal Government, as represented by the President of the United States, tells them, FOR THE GOOD OF OUR COUNTRY, to do," he added.

Following his meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Trump told Fox News that the Kremlin tyrant complained about the unfairness of mail-in ballots in America's 2020 election.

Former Sen. Sherrod Brown is kicking off a comeback bid.

The former Ohio senator formally jumped into the Ohio Senate race to capture Vice President JD Vance’s old Senate seat, currently held by Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio), who was appointed by Gov. Mike DeWine (R) earlier this year.

Brown served in the Senate from 2007 to 2025. Last November, he was bested by Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio). His home state drifted to the right during his time in the upper chamber.

Now he is hoping that his widespread name recognition, fundraising prowess, and the expected blue wave cycle can help him overcome long odds. Democrats are thrilled that they have recruited another big name for the 2026 cycle.

“For the past eight months, all they’ve done is made things worse for Ohioans, handing over your hard-earned money to corporations and to billionaires,” Brown declared in his campaign debut video. “Their reckless tariffs and economic chaos are increasing prices and threatening the survival of small businesses all across our state.”

President Trump hit back at criticism that European leaders are trekking down to the US to make sure his forthcoming meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky doesn't go off the rails.

"The Fake News will say that it is a big loss for President Trump to host so many great European Leaders at our beautiful White House. Actually, it is a great honor for America!!!" Trump shot back on Truth Social.

European Union Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte have all confirmed plans to travel to Washington, DC.

Trump is scheduled to have a one-on-one with Zelensky and then a broader meeting with the European leaders.

A 15-year-old boy has been killed and the rest of his family injured in a Russian airstrike on the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia, local officials said Monday.

The teen and two others were wiped out in the shelling attack on the southeastern village of Novoyakovlivka on Sunday — just hours before President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky were set to discuss a deal to end the deadly war.

Harrowing photos captured the boy’s lifeless body lying on the ground in the wake of the deadly blast.

His family’s home was obliterated in the attack, according to officials.

President Trump claimed Sunday that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky could bring the nation’s war with Russia to a halt “almost immediately” if he’s willing to make two major concessions.

Trump called for Ukraine to drop its bid to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), a demand long made by Russia, and also said there would be “no getting back” Crimea — signaling to the nation to accept Russia’s illegal 2014 annexation of the region during the Obama administration.

“President Zelenskyy of Ukraine can end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wants to, or he can continue to fight. Remember how it started. No getting back Obama given Crimea (12 years ago, without a shot being fired!), and NO GOING INTO NATO BY UKRAINE. Some things never change!!!” the commander-in-chief proclaimed in a late-night Truth Social post.

Trump’s message comes just one day before a high-profile summit Monday at the White House, where he is expected to meet with Zelensky and several European leaders to discuss next steps in the three-and-a-half-year conflict.

Top European leaders will be on hand to back up Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during his White House meeting with President Trump on Monday amid angst over how the Alaska summit with Russian tyrant Vladimir Putin unfolded. 

European Union Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte have all confirmed plans to travel to Washington, DC.

It is not clear yet whether all of those leaders will join the actual White House meeting or possibly meet with Trump separately.  

“They’re not coming here tomorrow to keep Zelensky from being bullied,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio insisted to CBS News’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday. “This is such a stupid media narrative… We’ve been working with these people for weeks.

Russian strongman Vladimir Putin reportedly proposed freezing the fighting on the front lines in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions in return for Ukraine pulling its troops out of the Russian-occupied Donetsk area, a source familiar with the bilateral discussions between President Trump and his Russian counterpart said.

That demand, the source added, is likely to be rejected by Kyiv.

US officials got the impression from Putin, according to the source, that the Russian ruler is willing to consider negotiations regarding the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

Putin reportedly requested during talks with Trump, that the US recognize those four regions – in addition to the Crimean Peninsula – as part of Russia. Trump later told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a phone call that Putin said Moscow was making significant progress on the front lines of the war and could capture the entire Donetsk region, and other areas, if he wanted to, Axios reported.

Zelensky is scheduled fly to Washington, DC, on Monday to meet with Trump.

European Union President Ursula von der Leyen thanked President Trump on Saturday morning after speaking with him following his Alaskan summit with Russia’s Vladimir Putin.

“Thank you @POTUS for the update on discussions in Alaska,” von der Leyen posted on X. “The EU is working closely with @ZelenskyyUA and the United States to reach a just and lasting peace.

“Strong security guarantees that protect Ukrainian and European vital security interests are essential.”

Trump noted after holding a press conference with his Russian counterpart that he planned to call Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders regarding his talks with Putin aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.

WASHINGTON — President Trump has committed in principle to providing “security guarantees” to Ukraine to safeguard its frontier from Russia following a possible peace deal, The Post has confirmed.

The precise contours of those security guarantees, which were discussed by Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage on Friday, remain unclear, however. Trump has not committed to sending US troops and previously ruled out NATO membership for Ukraine.

The security may amount to a European-led initiative with America’s support, a source familiar with the talks said.

WASHINGTON — French President Emmanuel Macron’s office says an anti-Russian “Coalition of the Willing” will convene Sunday ahead of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s trip to the White House and on the heels of Friday’s summit between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, co-chairs of the coalition, will be included in the virtual meeting.

Trump left Anchorage without a cease-fire deal with Putin and wrote early Saturday on social media that he prefers to “go directly” to a full peace deal between Russia and Ukraine.

The term “Coalition of the Willing” is a throwback to the Iraq War, which began in 2003 when then-US President George W. Bush dismissed opposition from countries such as France and Germany to his plans to topple Saddam Hussein and forged ahead without them.

President Trump said the "best way" to end the war between Ukraine and Russia is to "go directly to a peace agreement," ruling out an immediate cease-fire.

"It was determined by all that the best way to end the horrific war between Russia and Ukraine is to go directly to a Peace Agreement, which would end the war, and not a mere Cease-fire Agreement, which often times do not hold up," Trump wrote on Truth Social Saturday morning.

The idea of both countries going to a peace agreement came after Trump's nearly three-hour meeting in Alaska with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and subsequent phone calls with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders, including NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Trump said the possible agreement has the potential to save millions of lives.

The commander in chief teased a future meeting with Putin if "all works out" when Zelensky travels to the White House on Monday.
