The Trump administration is considering expanding the Department of Homeland Security’s powers to expedite deportations of some illegal immigrants, a report said Friday.
The new policy would affect those who cannot prove that they have lived in the country for more than 90 days, according to The Washington Post (paywall).
A DHS spokeswoman said, “The potential changes would allow DHS to more efficiently use resources to remove persons who have been illegally present for relatively brief periods of time while still observing due-process requirements.”
