President Trump acknowledged that he left Sen. Mitt Romney off the White House task force studying the reopening of parts of the US amid the coronavirus pandemic because he still holds a grudge against him.
The “Opening Up America Again Congressional Group” includes almost 70 senators, including a dozen Democrats and all 52 of the Utah lawmaker’s Republican colleagues in the upper chamber.
Romney was the only GOP senator to vote to convict Trump of abuse of power in his impeachment trial.
“I’m not a fan of Mitt Romney,” the president said Sunday, according to The Hill, adding, “I don’t really want his advice.”
Asked if Romney’s exclusion shows Trump still holds a grudge, the president answered, “Yeah, it does.”
The Utah senator has been a frequent critic of the president, who called him a “pompous ass” in a tweet after Romney criticized him for urging foreign leaders to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden.
