The drumbeat to recruit Rep. Paul Ryan for House speaker continued Sunday with two GOP outsiders — Donald Trump and Ben Carson — expressing support for the Wisconsin Republican.
“I think he’s somebody that probably could get good support,” Trump said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “I think he’s a very nice person.”
Carson said Ryan would “do a fine job.”
The former vice-presidential nominee is under pressure to run for the speaker post from Republicans who believe he could unite the establishment and Tea Party wings of the party.
