President Trump will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the White House this afternoon — the first face-to-face for the two sometimes combative world leaders.
The two leaders will also hold a joint press conference.
Trump bashed Merkel during the U.S. election, claiming her policy of welcoming Syrian refugees is “ruining Germany.”
And for her part, Merkel has slammed Trump’s controversial travel ban.
But the pair are expected to set that aside their differences and instead discuss NATO, North Korea, Russian President Vladimir Putin and how a proposed border tax could impact business ties between the U.S. and Germany.
