A source close to the White House said President Donald Trump was asking staffers for feedback on his controversial “Morning Joe” tweets Thursday.
“He said to everyone, ‘I know it wasn’t presidential, but what did you think?’ ” the source said.
“He wanted to get people’s reactions and sense what the fallout might be.”
Some praised the tweets. Others kept their heads down.
“There’s definitely a feeling that they’re under siege, but this was also a week when they had the CNN vindication,” the source said, referring to CNN’s retraction last week of an online story that alleged a link between a Russian fund and a Trump ally.
“So I think the White House has been in an aggressive mood as a result of that.”
