President Trump asked a 7-year-old girl if she was “still a believer in Santa” while taking calls from children who were phoning in to NORAD on Monday night in search of St. Nick.

“Merry Christmas, how are you?” Trump asked the girl, later identified as Collman Lloyd of Lexington, South Carolina. “Are you doing well in school? Are you still a believer in Santa? Because at seven it’s marginal, right?”
The commander-in-chief, who was joined by the first lady, spoke to the child from the State Dining Room in the White House — where he is spending the holidays amid the government shutdown.
Trump had gotten the call from NORAD’s Santa tracker center, which has agreed to continue the longstanding tradition of tracking Kris Kringle’s flight despite the shutdown. The president spent his Christmas Eve speaking to several kids, as did Melania, before calling it a night.
“What’s Santa going to get you for Christmas?” Trump asked one child.
“Are you tracking Santa? Do you know where he is?” Melania said to another. “I hope your dreams come true.”
The Monday night appearance marks the first time that Trump has been seen in public since the shutdown began.
“Helping children across the country track #Santa is becoming one of my favorite traditions!” Melania tweeted. “@Potus and I enjoyed working with @NORADSanta.”
