Donald Trump said Monday that America is more divided than he’s ever seen it — and it’s President Obama’s fault.

Hours before the opening of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Trump spoke to Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends” and called Obama “a great divider.”

“We have a country that has not been like this since I can remember it. It’s so out of control,” Trump said.
“We’ve got to bring law and order back to our country, whether we like it or not. [Obama’s] been a great divider in this country. Race relations are as bad as they’ve ever been in this country.”

Polls tend to back up Trump’s belief that the US is headed down a wrong path, but Americans seem less likely to blame Obama.

For example, a poll released Sunday by NBC and the Wall Street Journal showed that 73 percent of respondents feel America is on the wrong track, compared to 18 percent who said the nation is headed in the right direction.

But in that same poll, 51 percent of respondents said they approve of Obama’s work in the White House while 46 percent disapprove.
