Former President Donald Trump called the man charged with killing five people at a Wisconsin Christmas parade over the weekend a “rough cookie” — adding that the ex-con should not have been released on bail in an unrelated case.
“He was out on bail and he was a rough cookie,” Trump said of Darrell Brooks, 39, during an hour-long interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Tuesday night. The 45th president added that “based on early reporting, he should not have been out.”
Brooks is charged with five counts of first-degree intentional homicide, but prosecutor Susan Opper said Tuesday that he will be hit with a sixth count following the death of Jackson Sparks, 8, who had been in critical condition after the attack.
The aspiring rapper — who was ordered held on $5 million bond at his first court appearance Tuesday — was only free because he was cut loose on a $1,000 bond after allegedly punching and running over the mother of his child at a gas station on Nov. 2.

The former president said Brooks had been sprung on “a very low bail.”
“He should not have been out. He should have never,” Trump said. “Can you imagine? I looked at that car going in … I’ve never seen anything like it … All because of a bad guy. … Just a terrible, terrible situation. I mean, just terrible.”
The former president remarked that it was “good news” the aspiring rapper “hated Trump.” Fox NewsThe former president also quipped: “Good news is that he hated Trump,” referring to the suspect rapping “f—k Donald Trump” in a song he posted on SoundCloud.
