Former President Donald Trump expressed condolences Monday to the people of Waukesha, Wis., one day after a driver plowed an SUV into a Christmas parade, killing at least five and injuring dozens more.
“The whole world is watching the tragedy which just took place in Waukesha, Wisconsin, it is devastating, horrible, and very very sick!” Trump said in an emailed statement from his Save America PAC. “My heart goes out to the people of this great, beautiful, and hardworking community.”
“We must find the answers to this terrible crime, and stop these violent and depraved acts from happening again,” the 45th president added. “I am with you Waukesha, and always will be!”
The driver crashed through police barricades on Sunday afternoon before barreling into the crowd of holiday revelers in the suburban community west of Milwaukee.
Law enforcement officials say that they have a “person of interest” in custody and are questioning him about the deadly rampage.
The person, identified as Darrell Brooks, 39, has not been charged.

According to police, at least five people were killed in the rampage and over 20 were injured. James KeivomTrump held a campaign rally in Waukesha ahead of the 2020 presidential campaign and won the surrounding county by 21 percentage points, though the Badger State’s 10 electoral votes narrowly went to Democratic opponent Joe Biden.
In 2016, Trump became the first Republican presidential candidate to win Wisconsin since Ronald Reagan in 1984 as he defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton to win the White House.
