RACINE, Wis. — Days after allegedly calling Milwaukee “a horrible city” in a private meeting with congressional Republicans, former President Donald Trump opened his Wisconsin rally Tuesday with lots of love for the city 40 minutes north.
“I love Milwaukee! I was the one that picked Milwaukee,” the former president said, referring to the Republican National Convention taking place there next month.
“You gotta fix the crime. We all know that. You gotta make sure the election’s honest,” he continued.

Tuesday’s rally was Trump’s first appearance in the important swing state since his conviction — and he seemed to relish talking about the “indictment.”
Trump joked that Biden is saying the media are manipulating pictures of him. “On that one I have to stand up for the media,” quipped the former president, to the delight of the crowd.
The presumptive GOP nominee declared that black and Hispanic voters are going to vote for him this fall.
He also focused heavily on illegal immigration, saying South American countries are sending criminals to the southern border who are then committing crimes on American citizens.

“That’s why the black population, the Hispanic population is voting for me at levels never seen before in this country,” asserted Trump, who said illegal immigrants are taking the jobs of Americans.
Trump has tripled his support among black voters from 7% this time in 2020 to 21% now, per an aggregate of network polls.
“Remember, with Trump, no tax on tips,” he said to roaring approval, referring to the campaign promise he made at a recent Las Vegas rally. “I’m leading in young people by numbers that no one has ever seen before.”
“I’m the party of common sense,” Trump continued, “We’re the party of common sense.” He insisted, “It’s not a conservative thing or a liberal . . . thing.”

“I will keep men out of women’s sports,” he continued. “Why would you have to say that?”
Trump also criticized critical race theory and “transgenderism.”
Trump supporters waiting to enter Festival Park for the former president’s Racine rally encountered tables and carts of MAGA and red, white and blue gear, creating an atmosphere not unlike the Brooklyn Bridge on a weekend.

While waiting to enter the rally grounds, James told The Post he expected the ex-prez to talk about bringing “communities together that have long been marginalized.”
“They say [Trump] hates gays,” said James, who is going back to school. “I’m a gay man, and I see communities coming together.”
Janet, 64, also from Illinois, told The Post she wants to hear who will be Trump’s running mate, though she didn’t expect that to be announced Tuesday: “I know that [Trump] is going to make a change and do right.”
Janet joked she would like to see Tucker Carlson as Trump’s VP, but she would be happy with South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.

State Democratic Party Chair Ben Wikler posted a video to his supporters last week, saying nonvoters are really sleeper Biden supporters.
Racine County is battleground territory for the presidential contest, with the last few races decided by a mere percentage point. Biden won the Badger State by just 0.63% in 2020.
A poll released yesterday showed the former president had increased his 2020, 8-point advantage in Iowa to 18 points, a massive increase that, if accurate, may spell trouble for Biden in swing states like Wisconsin, where he is neck and neck with Trump.
