Thousands of people have gathered in New Jersey ahead of President Trump’s “Keep America Great” rally Tuesday night.

The crowds offer a strong show of support for the commander-in-chief in a historically blue state amid the impeachment trial in the Senate putting his presidency in jeopardy.

Hundreds of Trump supporters have been camped outside the Wildwood Convention Center since as early as 2 p.m. Sunday to see the president’s first rally in the Garden State since taking office. The number skyrocketed into the thousands by Tuesday morning.

Over the weekend, Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ), who represents the district and will appear with Trump at the rally, claimed that 100,000 ticket requests had been submitted for the event.

The venue can hold less than 7,500 people, but the campaign will reportedly set up large TVs outside for those who can’t make it in.

Van Drew, a longtime Democrat, switched parties late last year in a show of his opposition to Trump’s impeachment. He was one of only two House Democrats who voted against both articles.

The newly minted Republican told Fox News Tuesday that he invited Trump during a meeting in Washington, DC, last month to hold a rally in South Jersey.

“I said to the president, ‘South Jersey would be so proud to have you,’ ” Van Drew said in an interview.

“Without ever blinking an eye, he said, ‘I will be there.’ He’s a man of his word, we are going together and it is going to be a great day for South Jersey and it’s going to be a great day for the United States of America. This is really exciting,” he added.

The convention center is scheduled to open its doors at 3 p.m., while the rally itself will go from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with Trump scheduled to speak around 7 p.m.
