President Trump went on a retweeting spree Wednesday, sharing about 60 posts in less than 20 minutes, including one from a “F–k Donald Trump” account — almost all in response to Joe Biden’s endorsement by the firefighters union.
The president has railed at the International Association of Fire Fighters this week, claiming it will unfairly “always support Democrats.”
“The Dues Sucking firefighters leadership will always support Democrats, even though the membership wants me,” he tweeted Monday. “Some things never change!”
His broadside came hours after the IAFF endorsed the former vice president in his quest for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.
“I’ll never get the support of Dues Crazy union leadership, those people who rip-off their membership with ridiculously high dues, medical and other expenses while being paid a fortune,” Trump said in an earlier tweet. “But the members love Trump. They look at our record economy, tax & reg cuts, military etc. WIN!”
On Wednesday, he went on a retweeting tear in which he shared messages of supporters lashing out at the union.
“24 years plus firefighter here,& there’s no chance Biden is my choice,” one user tweeted.
“Im a Firefighter and I’m a YUGE trump supporter! I got banned from the IAFF web,” another wrote.
But among the posts Trump shared was one from the account @glamourizes, which had changed its display name to read “F— Donald Trump” after the president retweeted a message of support.
“My husband a New York City firefighter for 15 years will be voting Trump 2020 all the way!!” read the original tweet from the account in reply to conservative media personality Dan Bongino.
Shortly after Trump’s retweet, the account changed its name and profile image to one of a campaign logo for presidential hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders.
“What a great morning. In all seriousness, our president is an awful, hateful human being who wants nothing more than to keep the status quo and hatred prevalent in our country when we should be pushing forward with the rest of the world towards progress and change,” the account owner later tweeted.
For the record this account is neither a bot nor a hack, every single tweet has been legitimate,” the anonymous user wrote a couple of hours later.
“I just am the type of committed idiot who thought over the past 2 years the President was surely dumb enough to RT literally any praising response to him.”
An account with a similar handle and the display name “lana del fenty” complained that the @gIamourizes account had copied hers.
“Ever since i got a retweet from the president, this person (@giamourizes) created an account, pretended to be me at first, & started tweeting support to him,” @Glamourizes wrote. “now that the president has retweeted them, they’re now bashing him. that’s not me lol. i actually support trump.”
